House of Rep Committee threatened NDDC Chief over disregard to protocols

The House of Representatives Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has threatened to issue a warrant of arrest against the NDDC chief for not following the laid down procedure on the award of contracts.
The committee said the NDDC had refused to honour the invitations sent to it to come and defend itself against allegations of fraudulent practices.
In an interview, Honourable Yusuf Tuggar, the chairman of the committee, said that in view of the development, members of the committee met and resolved to give the commission a seven-day ultimatum to appear before it.
Tuggar said that if the commission failed to honour the committee’s invitation again, it would be forced to issue a warrant of arrest against the NDDC chief.
The lawmaker said that his committee had given the commission another chance to appear before it on November 11 to answer to the allegations against it.
“This would be the final invitation. Failure to appear will leave the committee with no choice than to invoke the relevant sections of the constitution against the commission,” he warned.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported  that the committee had invited the management of NDDC several times to a meeting with a view to finding out why  it had failed to respond to invitation letters sent to it.
The invitations sent on July 14 and October 8 were sequel to complaints by stakeholders that the management of the NDDC was allegedly violating the provisions of the Public Procurement.
